NJORD Law Firm's IP Department advises both national and international clients on the protection of their intellectual property rights
In strong cooperation with, among others, the police and customs authorities around the world, our IP Department assists clients round the clock, all year round in the fight against infringement of trademarks (counterfeit goods).
During 2018, our IP Department assisted the Danish State Prosecutor for Serious Economic and International Crime several times in connection with searches of premises belonging to counterfeit sellers. For example, our IP experts participated in the biggest action in Denmark so far against counterfeit sellers.
The nationwide action, where more than eight properties were searched, several persons were arrested, and more than 600 packing boxes with counterfeit goods were seized, is still being investigated by the police.
In 2017, the Danish customs authorities seized counterfeit goods worth more than EUR 4,500,000.00.
For several years, rights holders have ascertained that imports of counterfeit goods increase in connection with Christmas. Therefore, the IP Department organized several targeted training courses for the customs authorities in Denmark, Sweden, and Norway in November 2018.
Through these training courses, among other things, we are keeping the customs authorities updated on new piracy trends and thereby strengthening the efforts against counterfeit goods – and enhancing the protection of our clients’ rights.
