NJORD in Estonia: National holidays do not reduce any work time for employees working in shifts

Last year 17% of all employees worked in shifts. Their work hours, as well as any possible over- or undertime done by the employee, are usually summed up at the end of the calculation period.

Although national holidays allow more free time for employees who work 8 hours a day and 40 hours per week, they do not reduce the normal working hours for people working in shifts. That means that, in the same period of time, actual working hours of the two types of employees might differ.
