NJORD partner Triinu Hiob appointed to serve on the ICSID Panel of Arbitrators

The Republic of Estonia appointed NJORD Law Firm’s partner Triinu Hiob as one of the Estonian members to the ICSID Panel of Arbitrators.

With international conventions and agreements states have assumed obligations to protect foreign investments. ICSID or International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes is the world’s leading institution devoted to the settlement of disputes between investors and states in connection with such investments. Over the past 20 years, Estonia has four times experienced claims filed to ICSID arbitration against itself, most recently by AS Tallinna Vesi and the parent company of the United Utilities group.

The ICSID Convention has 153 Member States. The Convention entitles each Member State to designate up to four persons to the Panel of Arbitrators, and up to four persons to the Panel of Conciliators. Triinu Hiob was designated to serve on the Panel of Arbitrators.
